Sheena James of Light of Day Designs is an artist from the community of Xwísten the Bear Clan, which is located near the town of Lillooet BC, within the St’át’imc Nation Territory.

Sheena’s beadwork is inspired by her mother, Elaine James (beader), her late father, James Black (contemporary artist), and extended family, who instilled a profound appreciation for artistic expression.

Every piece of art she creates, reflects her journey that carries a deep, personal connection to family. With each bead, Sheena threads the past, present, and future together, contributing to rediscovery and reconnection with her culture while encouraging a path for future generations to continue telling their own stories through art.
